Creating an Apocalyptic World

Creating an Apocalyptic World

In a recent episode of Film Riot, filmmaker Wil Magness gives us an overview of how he prepared to shoot his film, The Manual. This includes prepping visual aspects, but also the importance of getting feedback on the script. Wil even wrote sample “manual” pages (a key prop in the film) to help fill out the world and inform his crew what they were working towards.

While flipping through articles at IndieFilmHustle.com, I noted that the site has pages covering the oeuvre of several top writers and directors. Each page has a PDF download link for every one of their screenplays. Check out the links below:

Scriptnotes Listeners’ Guide

Scriptnotes Listeners’ Guide

Those who know me know how much I love the weekly Scriptnotes podcast from writers John August and Craig Mazin. It’s a show about screenwriting and things that are interesting to screenwriters. They recently asked listeners to help compile a guide to the best episodes of the show. (My comments are included on three different episodes in the guide.)

If you’ve ever wanted to check out the show, but didn’t know where to begin, this is a list of the best entry points! They ask for an email address, and will send you a link for the free PDF download.
